Postiz Alternative in 2026: When SocialRobot Fits Better

Honest look at Postiz vs SocialRobot: open source and 30+ networks on one side, Flux + GPT Image 1 in-composer, EN+ES, and best-time windows on the other.

Who this is for

You searched "Postiz alternative" because something about Postiz almost fits and something does not. Maybe you want a hosted product without running Docker. Maybe you care more about image quality than about covering Reddit and Discord. Or you write in Spanish and the product UI never quite matched.

This piece is a working comparison as of July 2026. Postiz and SocialRobot both schedule posts, both expose MCP for agents, and both want the same buyers. The split is in what you optimize for: platform count and self-hosting, or in-composer AI images, bilingual UI, and quieter day-to-day scheduling.

If Postiz already solves your stack, keep it. The goal here is to help you decide without the usual marketing fog. Competitor pricing and feature lists change; re-check their site before you switch seats.

What Postiz does well

Postiz (postiz.com, AGPLv3 on GitHub) is the open-source scheduler that technical teams actually ship. Self-host and the sticker price is $0. Cloud plans start around $29/mo for Standard with five channels, then step up through Team, Pro, and Ultimate as you add channels.

Breadth is the headline. Postiz lists 30+ destinations: the usual Instagram / LinkedIn / TikTok set, plus WordPress, Medium, Discord, Telegram, Reddit, YouTube, Google Business Profile, and more. If your content calendar spans community servers and blogs as well as feeds, that list matters in a way a nine-network product cannot fake.

The agent story is sharp. Official MCP, a CLI (`postiz-agent`), a Node SDK, plus n8n, Make, and Zapier. AI Copilot drafts text. Image generation uses DALL-E (plan limits apply). Some plans include AI video. "Smart Agent" automation covers auto-post and milestone reactions that SocialRobot does not ship today.

For a devops-minded team that already runs Postgres and Redis, self-hosting Postiz can be cheaper over a year than any SaaS seat, and you keep the data on your metal. That is a real advantage, not a footnote.

  • Self-host under AGPL if you want full control of the box.
  • 30+ platforms if breadth beats depth for your workflow.
  • Mature automation glue (CLI, SDK, n8n/Make/Zapier) already in the box.
  • AI video on some cloud plans if short-form video is part of the brief.

Where SocialRobot takes a different bet

SocialRobot ships nine networks with deeper day-to-day compose flows: Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, and Facebook. We are not pretending that equals thirty. The bet is that most creators and small teams live on a short list of feeds, and those feeds need reliable publishing plus AI that sits next to the caption field.

Image generation is Flux and GPT Image 1 inside the composer. You draft the post and generate art without bouncing to a separate picture editor. That is the practical difference versus a DALL-E-only flow living elsewhere in the product. When you are batching a week of LinkedIn and Instagram, staying in one modal matters more than the marketing slide that says "AI images" in the abstract.

The product UI is English and Spanish. Spanish-speaking teams are not an afterthought bolted onto a blog. Signup works without a card; scheduling still needs a paid plan for normal users (Starter is $19/mo for five accounts and 200 AI images; Pro is $29/mo for twenty accounts and 500 AI images).

Best-time windows come from static per-platform tables wired into the scheduler. They are defaults, not a claim that we invent personalized audience peaks for every account. Instagram audience timing lives in analytics today and does not auto-fill the queue by itself. Style cloning (match your past voice) is on the roadmap; captions today follow platform guidelines, not a clone of your archive.

MCP and OpenAPI are live for agent and API workflows. We do not yet ship a first-party CLI, Node SDK, or n8n/Make/Zapier nodes the way Postiz does. If that glue is non-negotiable on day one, Postiz wins that round. If you are fine calling HTTP or MCP from Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor, SocialRobot is already in that path.

SocialRobot vs Postiz

Side-by-side snapshot

Prices move. Treat these as July 2026 snapshots and check each vendor before you buy. The table below is the short version of the living comparison page.

  • Postiz: $0 self-hosted / ~$29/mo Standard cloud (5 channels) and higher tiers for more channels; SocialRobot: Starter $19/mo (5 accounts), Pro $29/mo (20 accounts).
  • Platforms: Postiz 30+ including YouTube, Discord, Reddit, WordPress; SocialRobot 9 core networks.
  • AI images: Postiz DALL-E (and video on some plans); SocialRobot Flux + GPT Image 1 in-composer (no AI video yet).
  • Agents: both have MCP; Postiz also ships CLI + SDK + n8n/Make/Zapier; SocialRobot ships OpenAPI + in-app API assistant.
  • Languages: SocialRobot product UI EN+ES; verify Postiz localization if that matters to you.
  • Best times: SocialRobot composer defaults per platform; Postiz positioning we reviewed did not center a best-times engine.

A week in each product (what actually feels different)

On Monday morning with Postiz, you can fan a single idea out across Discord, Reddit, and Instagram if those are wired. The win is coverage. The cost is more surface area to babysit when one OAuth token dies or a niche destination rejects a media type.

On Monday morning with SocialRobot, you stay inside the nine networks and spend more time in the composer: caption, Flux or GPT Image 1 still, queue against the platform default windows, then leave. The win is fewer context switches. The cost is that YouTube or Google Business Profile still need another tool.

Neither rhythm is "correct." Teams that publish to community servers every day will hate SocialRobot's missing destinations. Teams that mostly post LinkedIn + Instagram + TikTok will wonder why they paid for thirty icons they never click.

Pick Postiz if…

You want to self-host and keep the binary under AGPL. You need Discord, Telegram, Reddit, YouTube, or WordPress in the same queue as Instagram. Your team already lives in n8n or Make and expects a native node. AI video is on the must-have list this quarter.

That is a coherent product. Plenty of shops will stay there forever, and they should. "Alternative" does not mean "upgrade for everyone."

Pick SocialRobot if…

You want image generation next to the caption without a second editor. Your team works in English and Spanish and expects the product to match. Nine networks cover your publish list and you care more about compose quality than about covering every niche destination. You like a light Clay-style UI that stays out of the way while you queue the week.

You are fine signing up without a card, then paying Starter or Pro when you are ready to schedule. You want MCP plus an OpenAPI surface, and you can wait on a first-party CLI if the HTTP/MCP path is enough for now.

You also prefer honest gaps over feature theater. If a capability is on our roadmap (style cloning) or limited (static best times, Instagram personalization in analytics only), we say so on the page instead of implying it already drives the queue.

Moving off Postiz (or running both for a week)

There is no one-click importer today. Plan a week of parallel queues if you are mid-campaign. Cancelling the old seat on Friday and expecting Monday to look identical is how people lose a week of posts.

Export or screenshot the posts you still need. In SocialRobot, connect the nine accounts you actually publish to, recreate the next seven to fourteen days in the calendar, and generate replacement images in-composer where the old DALL-E assets do not match the new brand look. Point your agent at SocialRobot MCP instead of Postiz MCP when the smoke test passes.

If you self-host Postiz for Reddit/Discord and use SocialRobot for Instagram/LinkedIn/TikTok, that split is weird but workable. Just do not double-post the same caption to the same account from two tools. Pick an owner network per destination and stick to it.

  • Inventory which destinations you actually used in the last 30 days; drop the rest.
  • Reconnect OAuth on SocialRobot; do not reuse tokens from another product.
  • Rebuild the next sprint of posts before you cancel the old cloud seat.
  • Update any agent prompts that hard-code Postiz tool names.
  • Keep one emergency post draft offline in case a reconnect fails mid-week.

Honest gaps on our side

Platform count: nine versus thirty-plus. YouTube and Google Business Profile are not on SocialRobot yet. No AI video. No first-party CLI or Zapier node. Style cloning is planned, not shipped. Best times are static tables, not a personalized model for every niche.

If those gaps block you, Postiz (or Buffer, or Hootsuite) may fit better. We would rather say that than invent features. Buffer still wins on long-running brand trust and a huge blog archive; Hootsuite still wins on enterprise listening and advocacy; Postiz still wins on open source and breadth.

FAQ

Is SocialRobot open source? No. Postiz is AGPLv3; SocialRobot is a hosted SaaS with MCP and OpenAPI for integrations.

Can I schedule without paying? You can create an account without a card. Publishing and scheduling for normal users require a paid plan.

Does SocialRobot replace Postiz MCP? For Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor-style agents, yes if your tools map to what we expose. For CLI-first or n8n-native flows, Postiz still has more out of the box.

Will you match Postiz platform count? Not as a near-term goal. Depth on the nine we support beats a thin layer across thirty for the buyers we target.
